The Relationship

How you two met:
We met at the George Washington University through athletic circles. He was a swimmer and Jamie played volleyball. They started out as friends and that blossomed into love!

What was your first impression of each other?:
Her of Him: Incredibly easy to talk to, shorter than me and always made me laugh
Him of Her: VERY tall and has a huge heart

When did each of you know you were in love?:
Jamie definitely knew first, but it was more of a growth from friendship into love. In fact, Jamie one night decided to ask if he could ever “think of her as more than a best friend.” That answer was “YES!” 🙂

The Proposal

How did the proposal happen?:
Every girl wishes for a surprise proposal and to have her nails done – which is exactly what happened on Saturday, April 2nd. Andrew planned a whole weekend of surprises, to which Jamie was completely unaware. First, Jamie’s dad flew in as a surprise to
Jamie on Friday. The next day Andrew left for “work”, while Jamie and her dad went to a movie then the plan was to walk around and see the cherry blossoms. They decided to deviate and check out the Kennedy Center (nothing strange about that folks, typical DC tourist move).

As they walked out of the door to the roof, Jamie saw someone in a suit with roses as his feet. She exclaimed to her dad “Someone is getting proposed to!” then attempted to turn away from this event. Her dad said “why don’t you go over
there” to which Jamie replied “no that would be so rude.” Finally, her dad said “Jamie look!” and in that moment Jamie finally focused her (terrible) eyesight on the guy in the suit with roses at his feet – it was Andrew.

She quickly did a running-jog over to him and he gave her the most Bachelorette worthy proposal ever. It is safe to say, even Chris Harrison would have been proud because in true fashion, Andrew said “will you accept my final rose?” Then he got down on one knee and before he could even pull out the ring, Jamie said YES!

Unbeknownst to Jamie, Andrew had two of their friends taking pictures of the entire event, which was another must-have for a perfect proposal. They both called Andrew’s mom right away and proclaimed the great news! Then they were mid-call with Jamie’s mom, when out she walks onto the roof, along with Jamie’s sister, brother and his girlfriend. Another surprise! Then came a wonderful dinner celebration with family and friends. It was a night in their lifetime adventure that they would never forget.

If you had to pick a favorite moment of the day what would it be?:
There are SO many to pick from. All in all, we had the most fun/hilarious/roll with anything wedding party, which is always greatly appreciated. Every moment from the day was a magical blur and the night just seemed to go by too quickly! We got to experience a rainbow happen just as we were headed inside for the reception. It was a sweet reminder that we were being watched over by loved ones who could not be there in person.

Overall though, the moment at the reception when you look out and see your family and friends from all parts of your life all together in one room, is incredibly surreal. For no other reason than your marriage would all these people come together and I have never felt that much love in one place ever before

What was the most fun part of the wedding to plan?:
Since Jamie works weddings, she found the most fun part to plan was little aspects that would make her guests smile and have the time of their lives!
