If you’ve been following along, you already know that Shelby is my best friend and she got married this past May. We were lucky enough to work on all of her stationery. She kept the vintage theme from start to finish. With her Save the Dates, Bridal Shower Invitations & the actual wedding invitations. But, in all honesty, the stationery doesn’t even compare to how beautiful the rest of their days. So let’s get right into it:
Shelby Haskins (Yates), 26, Lead Intervention Specialist, Cincinnati, OH
Tanner Yates, 26, IT Recruiter, Cincinnati, OH
Our parents introduced us.
I thought Tanner was very shy, he hardly spoke to me at all the first couple of times we met. Tanner said he thought “Wow, she is cute.” I was 16, had braces, and was slightly chunky.. so that’s saying a lot.
With the help of one of my bridesmaids, who is also my educational aide, Tanner orchestrated a group picture with all of my students. I was coming out of a meeting, knowing that a group picture was being taken. Tanner came out from the group of students and proposed. I was completely surprised and burst into tears immediately.
I don’t know the technical term for our style, but I wanted it to have a very vintage feel with a dash of Harry Potter. I wanted everything to be simple but really reflect our style.
We did not have set colors, but it was earthy tones. The bridesmaids wore taupe and the groomsmen wore olive suits with green tones.
The decor was my favorite part of our wedding! We had old mismatched chairs and the tables were set with old books, moss, brass candle sticks, dried flowers, and lanterns.
I would have to say meeting with Queen City Vignette and planning the center pieces and other vintage decorations. Meeting with them made me so excited for the wedding and it was the first time I saw my vision coming to life.
Our first look. I was so anxious the entire day, but finally seeing Tanner made me so much calmer. Seeing him cry was a bonus too.
Yes! It was the best decision we could have made. We were able to do all the pictures before the ceremony, so the party got started quicker! I also got to spend so much more time with Tanner, which is the entire point of the day!
