Stained Wedding Invitations for a Vintage Wedding

moody engagement pictures

The Couple:

Well, if you follow us on Instagram, you know about Shelby and Tanner’s wedding. Shelby has been my best friend since 5th grade and I am the maid of honor at her & Tanner’s wedding. MEANNNNING: I’ve been doing a lot of stuff on the ‘gram for her bridal shower, bachelorette party, etc. and showing you guys behind the scenes.

Anyways, Shelby and Tanner met and started when they were 16 and are getting married on their 10 year *first kiss* anniversary. Rather than tell you about them, I am going to give you the run down on their wedding decor. They plan on having old books, brass candle holders, and miss matched chairs during the reception. Shelby and Tanner are using dried flowers for every floral detail of their wedding. Think vintage, old world, ethereal with a very neutral color palette. Girls are in a nude/tan color. Groomsmen are in olive green suits. They are getting married at Urban Artifact in Cincinnati Ohio.

The Save the Dates really set the tone for their wedding, and the whole “antique/old world” vibe. We printed a faux tea stain on the vellum wraps on those and it turned out amazing. We tried to step our game up a little bit on the invitation suite.

The Invitation:

These are the most unique invitations I have created to date. We used stained handmade paper to really give off the vintage vibe Shelby and Tanner were going for. Shelby and I paired it the same seed paper from her bridal shower invitations and backed it with hand torn kraft paper.

We used kraft paper for the envelopes & put the same flower from the invitation across the envelopes. I love the way the floral design went over the crease of the envelope. I am always obsessed with the placement of the return address. Putting it on a slant on the bottom flap of the envelope changes it up from the expected placement just on the back flap.

One thing not shown in the photos is the envelope liner. We hand tore the seed paper from the insert and didn’t print anything on them. This added a little bit of texture to the envelope, as well as tied in the seed paper color from the insert.
