Meet Seattle Wedding Photographers Jeff and Rebecca

Hey guys! Can you tell our readers a little about yourselves?

Hey guys, we’re Jeff + Rebecca and together we own Jeff + Rebecca Photography (real original we know haha!). We are a husband and wife team living in a 104 year old craftsman farmhouse in a little town 45 minutes north of Seattle called Stanwood who believe to capture a couple in love it takes a couple in love!

What is it like working with your spouse?

I love every second of it, I actually wouldn’t do photography as a business without Jeff!

Your German Shepherd is SO cute! How did you come up with the name Freya?

We adore her, even when she does eat the floors! I knew I wanted a unique name for our first dog together and I wasn’t able to get nerdy with any of my other pet names growing up, so I knew a name from Final Fantasy or Harry Potter had to be picked! I ended up picking Freya, which is the name I gave a final fantasy character over 15 years ago because it’s pretty, it’s nordic, and it literally translates to ‘Lady’.

Do couples that book you always get both of you for their wedding?

Yes! Other than an act of God, Jeff and I shoot every wedding together! We love working together and our husband and wife connection literally allows us to communicate without talking sometimes during a wedding day as well haha!

How did you both get into wedding photography?

Well while we both have been taking photos since we were little, Jeff actually caught the photography bug first by making videos with friends with his first GoPro camera when he was in high school, then when we bought our first “nicer” point and shoot camera for our own honeymoon, taking photos on that trip just enhanced his love for it. He asked if starting our own photography business was possible when we were married around 2 years, and since I came from a background of owning your own business through my family, I told him heck yes let’s do it! Within 3 months of buying him our first business camera, we bought a second camera for me! We’ve been capturing couples in love for over 3 years now and love every second of it.

What do you believe wedding photography should be about?

Your wedding is about the start of a lifelong commitment together, choosing to love each other each day and to support each other through all the things life can bring your way. So in that way, we approach our clients Wedding Photography experience with us, that this is only the beginning to their lives together.

What are your favorite moments to capture while shooting?

While we love the entire wedding day, some of our favorite moments that really get us is the first look between the couple, these can get especially emotional and we’re not afraid to say it’s brought a tear or two to our owns eyes in the past!

What are your biggest inspirations in life? If they’re different for each of you, share both!

Ohh! This is a tough one for me because I try to surround myself with only things that inspire me! I take inspiration from songs, and people who don’t put other people down while growing their own path!

What gets you going in the morning?

Rebecca: Good morning kisses, coffee, writing in my start today journal and music.

Jeff: A good schedule, a little bit of self time, a nice cup of coffee.

What does your perfect day look like?

Rebecca: Waking up to the smell of fresh brewed coffee, spending the first hour with my morning routine, do a 30 minute work out then hot shower, breakfast then up to work for 4-5 hours, spend the afternoon playing with Freya, cleaning around the house or running errands, email check, prep dinner, clean kitchen and cuddles on the couch!

Jeff: Getting up early (5am) and brewing coffee, spending the first hour reading or journaling and a quick work out, have breakfast work till about 11, have lunch play with the pup for a few, for the rest of the afternoon and evening would be working on some house projects or in the shop, running errands winding down to make dinner with Rebecca, cleaning up and ending it all with some cuddles on the couch.

What advice would you give someone new to the business?

Make yourself legit from the start! Don’t charge money until you are set up completely like a business!

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve taken away from your profession?

Rebecca: That “likes & followers” mean nothing because if at the end of the day you and your clients are happy and in love with the work you create nothing else matters! Be patient, budget your money REALLY WELL (something all businesses that have a slower season needs to be good at!) and most of all do things that bring you excitement and happinesss!

Jeff: I would say, making mistakes is okay just learn from them, learning is a constant marathon not a sprint, always strive for growth personally and professionally
