Alexis Parker – 25 – Senior Sales Manager at the Embassy Suites Tampa Downtown – Tampa, FL
Alex Parker – 26 – Firefighter/Paramedic for City of Largo – Tampa, FL
Alex and I both attended UCF and he lived in the dorm undermine. The first week of our freshman year he ran right up the stairs after me and introduced himself. He scared me to death, but definitely left an impression.
He thought I was the “cute college girl” that loved above his dorm and I thought he was so cute and funny (and a little crazy for chasing after me).
The second time we dated, it was only a few weeks before we were head over heels for each other. We both said I love you so soon into dating and it was kind of funny because we both thought that the other was going to think we were crazy for saying “I love you” so soon. Little did we know we felt the same way!
“I guess we can say Alex & Alexis will always be thankful to UCF for a little more than just their college degrees. Alex’s dorm happened to be directly under Alexis’ and late one night during their first semester, Alex boldly introduced himself. They began hanging out, studying, and even dating a little bit. The timing wasn’t quite right so they decided it was better to just stay friends.
A couple of years passed by and Alex suddenly began pursuing Alexis again and he wasn’t giving up on his chance to take her on their “second” first date. After a few weeks of persistent asking (and a lot of busy excuses), he gave her no option but to accept. The following months were jam packed with all of the breakfast, dinner, and happy hour dates they could possibly squeeze in. It didn’t take them long to realize they were falling fast and found their forever.
The three and a half years after that “second” first date were filled with finishing their studies, supporting each other as they chased dream careers, balancing that with fun & adventure, and just plain old learning how to “adult.” They’ve chosen this next season of their lives to transition from being best friends into Husband & Wife… Boy, are they looking forward to it.”
On Friday, February 2nd, I came home from work (after a long week) to a sparkling clean and quite home. As I walked into the kitchen I noticed a dress hanging from the chandelier, a big bouquet of flowers, and a letter. The letter said something to the effect of “I know we have been really busy with work and chasing our careers lately and we haven’t had much time for adventure so he wanted to plan an adventure I was sure not to forget.”
He told me to hurry up and get dressed and someone would arrive to pick me up shortly. Then followed my first clue which was a description of one of my favorite dates we had together, I knew right where to head. He shared with me that if I successfully found all of the clues I would end up at my final destination and there I would find him”. My sister showed up and told me to get dressed and she would be my chauffeur for the evening and she couldn’t say anything else. I had 4 stops and at each stop I found a family member with another sweet letter, clue, and the cocktail we had enjoyed together at that destination. The final spot was on the River walk in Downtown Tampa and there I found him on one knee.
I am a sucker for any kind of romance! We wanted our wedding to feel romantic, soft, and elegant.
Deep reds, navy blue, soft greens, and gold
This really has nothing to do with décor, but so special to me! As we were driving to the wedding venue a few days before the wedding, we had realized that we never got Alex a wedding ring. HOW DID WE MISS THIS DETAIL?! Well we ended up ordering a bunch of rings off of Amazon and they either didn’t make it in time or didn’t fit. My Papou (greek for Grandpa) passed away shortly before the wedding and I was given his wedding band as a gift from my Grandma after his funeral. Alex’s mom knew this and stopped at our house to pick it up on her way to the venue and it was a PERFECT fit. My Papou was a very special man so it means a lot to my family and I that this is the ring he now wears. It was meant to be!
I have so many!! Any time we had the opportunity to sneak away and just have a moment together was the best. We didn’t seem to have many words to share it was just simple quiet time filled with hugs and giggles, felt like pure joy. Really priceless!
One of my favorite memories of wedding planning was picking the music the band would play. The band sent us a list of about 200 songs to pick from so we broke out a bottle (or two) of wine and went through the whole list. We spent most of the time dancing and laughing at old music videos and fun memories that the songs brought back.
