My Baby Shower

neutral baby shower invitations

Last weekend I celebrated the upcoming arrival of my new baby at my baby shower! It was on a sunny Sunday, about 60 degrees (which is great for the beginning of March in Ohio) and lasted two hours. My mom and I prepped the entire thing the weeks leading up to it. My husband’s Aunts came down from Muskoka to cater the entire thing. We had about 40 people packed into the main floor of my house, and the entire day was great!

The Wednesday before the shower my mom and I blew up hundreds of balloons and set up the arches. We watched this youtube video to teach us, and just went for it. It ended up being a lot easier than I thought, but brutal on your hands/fingers. But, the way it turned out made it worth it. They looked professional!

I had a block decorating activity and a little area for guests to write down their favorite family traditions growing up. Both generated keepsakes we will cherish forever. I can’t wait to try some of the traditions others had with my own family, or see Baby playing with the blocks!

The food was the craziest/most impressive part, in my opinion. Chris is a professional chef in Toronto and Muskoka and we were so lucky to have her cook up everything for my shower! We had a charcuterie board, roasted red pepper dip and butternut squash dip as the “shareables”. I’ll post the full menu below:

-Asparagus in crispy parmesan crust
-Mushroom flatbread fingers, with caramelized onion and mascarpone
-Muskoka smoked trout with chevre on endive tips
-Rosemary beef tenderloin bites with mild blue cheese dip
-Steamed Asian dumplings with ginger sauce
-Mini burger / cheeseburger sliders

Charlie, Chris, Laura and I spent all of Saturday prepping the food and then Chris and Laura executed the entire thing Sunday morning and throughout the shower! It was awesome.
