So you’ve been looking on Pinterest for wedding invitations and realized that envelope liners are completely gorgeous, but don’t want to pay your invitation designer to do them? I understand! We try to keep the cost of these fair to our clients, but at $1.50 a piece they can add up quickly. If you have the time to assemble these yourself you can save quite a bit of money! (That’s primarily where the cost of these come from).
Or maybe you’re a stationery designer and want to know the best way to provide your clients with quality envelope liners. Either way, you’ve come to the right place. Let’s jump in:
What You Need:
Envelope liner design
Double sided tape, or a glue stick
Bonus if you have a bone folder*
Find an envelope liner design online that you like. We offer a wide variety in our Etsy shop here. You can choose between patterns, florals, a monogram, or a solid color. To start, will need to purchase, download and print the liners. You can print them at home or at an office store like Staples / Office Max / Fed Ex, etc.
Once you have all of the copies made, it’s time to start cutting. Cut along the edges of the liner until you have just the shape of the liner left. Recycle any scraps you may have.
I prefer using two sided tape – if you use this method, you want to tape the edge of the pointed portion of the liner or the edge of the envelope flap. If you are using a glue stick, you will want to glue these edges instead.
Stuff the envelope liner into the envelope and line up the tip of the liner to the edge of your envelope just before the sticky part that you lick to seal the envelope.
Smooth out and press firmly on the envelope liner to secure it’s placement
Fold the envelope closed and use your bone folder to create a tight crease.
Ta-da! You have beautiful envelope liners that will dress us up any mail you might have! Feel free to leave any questions you have in the comments, and if you do these make sure to tag me on Instagram!
