How you two met:

I was having a hard time meeting people in Dallas after moving from Orlando, Florida for my new job as a flight attendant with American.  As a flight attendant, your friends are often off on a trip when you’re home and visa versa, so I decided to take matters into my own hands and try another route: Match.com.

I was on a layover in San Antonio (a place I always wanted to visit since I was a little girl) so when I was just looking around my Match account when I came across his profile.  I thought he was ADORABLE and that he seemed to be a genuinely sweet guy from what he wrote.  When I realized he was from San Antonio and not Dallas, I decided not to message him.  He noticed I’d seen his profile, liked mine, and decided to write me anyways.

We talked and FaceTimed for hours on end for weeks before I flew in for our last first date ever.  But he indeed proved to be as sweet and amazing as I’d expected, and then some.

What was your first impression of each other?:

I thought that he was such an incredible gentleman and a respectful and sweet man.  But he loved how straightforward I was and how sweet and genuine I was.

When did each of you know you were in love?:

We met August 5th, 2016, began dating September 17th, 2016 and fell madly in love by November.  We were able to handle a long-distance relationship, my flying home in and out of Orlando to the University of Central Florida every Tuesday to finish my bachelors degree, and much more and this showed us how strongly we felt about each other.  He was so supportive and would even drive five hours each way just to spend one day with me in Dallas.

Right around the end of October or beginning of November, he pulled into Americus Diamonds in San Antonio on one of my short visits and told me to choose a ring.  I thought he was just testing me to see how I handled it and to maybe see if I would just run, but it turns out I was actually choosing my engagement ring that he would propose to me with.  I personally thought that it was a fun experience with him and I think that’s when he really knew how seriously in love with him I was.  By December 28th, 2016 we were engaged!

How did the proposal happen?:

Joey had been working with my best friends and my family back home to plan the perfect proposal.  Of course he was going for something big!

I was visiting him in San Antonio one evening and it was such a great day that he couldn’t handle the wait any longer.  He was playing the guitar and singing to me as usual, but this time it was our song!  He asked me “if I were to just propose to you right now, what would you say?”  I replied “well if you’re not asking me I’m not telling you, because that’s cheating!”   Then he left the room and when he came back, with tears in his eyes, he got down on one knee and proposed right then and there.  First I thought he was joking but then I realized he really meant it when he pulled that diamond ring out!  It was the sweetest!

If you had to pick a favorite moment of the day what would it be?:

My favorite moment would have to be when Joey surprised me with a pre-wedding serenade.  While my bridal party snuck him up to my bridal suite as I finished getting ready and hid him behind the other side of a wall where I couldn’t see him.  He began to sing his song to me “Green Eyes” by Coldplay and when I heard it I burst into tears.  Not only did he have the whole room crying but me too!  Luckily, I had some seriously waterproof makeup on that day!

What was the most fun part of the wedding to plan?:

Joey participated in every aspect of the wedding planning and was so helpful through all of the craziness.  There were several things we enjoyed working on, but lets be serious, the food was the most fun part to plan.  Catering and cake tastings with one of our besties/bridesmaids Ashley?  That’s a no brainer!
