Wedding Spotlight: Jordin + Charlie

  • wooded wedding ceremony

Jordin, 23 years old, born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. Owner of Unica Forma

Charlie, 26 years old, born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, now living in Columbus. 6th grade math teacher

How you two met:

We were both studying Education at the University of Cincinnati and shared 90% of our classes together for two years. Charlie eventually became obsessed with me.

Wedding Style:

I chose my wedding colors about -1 month into my engagement. I knew I wanted navy and pink from the jump. The ceremony was in an outdoor amphitheater, and the wedding was in the middle of nowhere. I wanted the ‘outdoors’ theme to carry through into the reception lodge. So, I didn’t really have a style. It was outdoorsy, but I didn’t want it to be rustic. I would suggest planning very little until you are for sure you know what you want; it will save you a lot of money, time and stress.

We had a buffet, formal attire dress code. We rented the 2 houses on the property for the night before and night of and that was probably our best investment for the entire thing because the wedding was 2 hours from home.

Advice for other bride’s on their big day:

Try not to stress over little things that don’t go right, chances are no one else will notice them besides you anyway. There a couple “huge” things (I thought so, anyway) that did not go the way we had planned during my wedding and EVERYONE went out of their way to ensure that it would be taken care of not to worry about it. I believed them, and let it go. I found out the next day that a few things never got fixed – but I didn’t even notice them throughout the day, so I know no one else could have noticed.

Another suggestion would be to do a general ‘thank you’ toast to all of your guests from you and the groom. We ended up running out of time trying to go from table to table thanking everybody, and we felt really terrible. Overall, just remember the day is about you and your groom. SLOW DOWN, and enjoy it as much as you can!! You spent months planning this day, and everything will work itself out. Congratulations!!!!
